Wednesday afternoon, Mendota's cross country team traveled to Ottawa's Catlin Park to compete against runners from Spring Valley, Plano, Earlville, and host school Ottawa.  

The girls' 3 mile race of 34 runners was won by Ottawa's McGettigan in a time of 22:35.  SV Hall's Cattani earned 2nd (22:45) and Plano's Chavez was 3rd (23:12).  Mendota's top finish belonged to Aliza Salinas (9th, 25:16). Jamie Dooley placed 13th (26:38) and was  joined by Bonnie Hall (31st, 35:22) and Piper Artman (33rd, 37:37) 

Ottawa's team total of 21 topped Plano's 31.  Mendota, Spring Valley, and Earlville failed to field complete teams.

In the boys' run, the Plano trio of Diaz(18:33), Thomas (18:39), and Coloins (19:24) took the top three places in the field of 36.

Mendota placed 4 in the top 12 places, with Andrew Stamberger (8th, 21:06), Ty Connelly ( 10th, 21:12), Trent Stamberger (11th, 21:17) and Sam Lawrence (12th, 21:49). Other Mendota finishes were Alex Hermosillo (29th, 24:02), Liam Indigo (30th, 24:05), Nevin Fouke (31st, 24:38) and Hunter Siebert (32nd, 25:58).

Plano's score of 21 was tops, followed by Mendota's 48 and Ottawa's 58. Hall and Earlville did not finish enough runners for team score.

Mendota will next compete at Oregon on Saturday.
