Mendota High School’s cross country team traveled to Kingston Thursday afternoon to open the 2019 season against 5 other N. Illinois high schools.

 

Lydia Camp of Harvest Christian Academy ran away from the field of 51 in the girls’ race. She finished the 3 mile course in 19:26, ahead of second place finisher Jolee Larson (20:27) of Indian Creek. Stella Oury of Hampshire placed  3rd with a time of 21:21.

 

Mendota’s top finish came from Aliza Salinas, who placed 26th in a time of 25:33.  Jamie Dooley was 34th in a time of 27:21, Bonnie Hall was 43rd (31:52) and Piper Artman was 50th (37:00).

 

Harvest Christian Academy had the top  team score, posting a total of 29 points, followed by Hampshire’s 48, Genoa-Kingston’s 64, and North Boone’s 113.  Mendota and Indian Creek did not field full teams.

 

In the boys’ run, Mathe Olech of Havest Christian took the field of 64 in a time of 15:52.  Hampshire harriers Isai Morales (16:38) and Aiden Gonzalez (17:02) were the next two across the line.  

Mendota was led by Andrew Stamberger (26th, 20:28) and Ty Connelly (30th, 20:57)  Additional Mendota finishes were

Alex Hermosillo (51st, 24:08)

Liam Indigo (52nd, 24:12)

Hunter Siebert (61st, 26:42)

 

Harvest Christian’s 23 team points helped them sweep the night. Hampshire was next with 41, while North Boone posted 70, Mendota had 124, and host school Genoa Kingston finished with 131.
